Licensed door-to-door selling is a legitimate activity, but scams or breaches of the Direct Sellers Act can happen. Missing or incomplete contracts, bad quality products or services, aggressive sales tactics or the customer not getting what they paid for are common complaints the Commission receives. Scammers often target produces and services we use every day—like home heating systems, water or air filters, driveway paving, roof repairs, and other home or yard jobs.
Always check the licence of your door-to door salesperson and company. Take time to read the contract (yes, even the fine print), and never feel pressured to make a decision.
